Matrix Reloaded, The (00.Plot Outline Neo and the rebel leaders estimate that they have 7 hours until 50,000 probes discover Zion and destroy it and its inhabitants. During this, Neo must decide how he can save Trinity from a dark fate in his dreams.================================================================================================.I think were all trying a little too hard to find meanings with-in meanings, and Matrix with in matrix. There is one simple rule that we need to remember to follow...

- The Matrix is a computer system .Neo and the rest of the Humans that were extracted from The Matrix are all computer hackers. Their brains can process The Matrix code faster than others. And everything that they are doing within The Matrix is everything that would be happening inside a computer mainframe.Neo, as a user of the matrix is in trouble. He does not know what to do. He says himself I really wish I knew what to do. So the next time hes in the computer system. He goes to see The Oracle. And she helps Neo as a user; figure out what to do next. Yes, The Oracle is our very trusty, and always informative, Help file. That is what type of program she is with in the matrix. She is a machine, yes or course running the program. But so is our help file when we use it. Our own computer is running it. Helping us understand how to use different files and programs and such. Hence the reason she knows what is going to happen in the matrix. Our help file guides us as humans to make the next decision we were looking for. She is a guide Neo; she told you exactly what you needed to hear. Thats all.She tells him flat out that he is The One. There is no denying it. She wants him to succeed in his mission. Why? Because she believes that the only way the war will be over is if Humans and Machines live together in peace. She flat out tells him that too. Neo has come to ask one question as we know. She tells him Youve already made that decision. Meaning that she knows that all the other Neos before him had made the same decision as well. OR she is trying to guide him to make the correct decision this time. Especially with that look in her face as she delivers that line.Remember that the crew are just hackers. And what a hack job it was for them to go into the program of The Industrial giant who has be come corrupt with power, Merovingian. And get out the Keymaker program free so they could use his password key making abilities, to hack into the mainframe.Yes the Oracle and the prophecy were all supposed pawns inputted by The Architect. He is the builder of the matrix and is a machine as well. But they are necessary evils of a computer system. Meaning they have to be there. Or the system will not work. He has studied every mathematical equation and he cannot rule out that no matter what he does, that the code will eventually run off and create a new The One. Why? Because he cannot factor in our basic human right of choice. We as humans have choice. And they as machines are told what to do by there programming. So he builds this elaborate hoax that brings The One to him. The Architect then goes on to tell him all that. BUT, we are all forgetting that the architect is in the matrix when Neo goes to see him. So HE then has so obey the rules and principals of the matrix as well. And how does he do so, by of course, giving Neo a choice of what to do at the end. Door number one allows Neo to go and save human kind and leave trinity for dead. And door number two is certain destruction of the human race. Here is where I believe The Architect is lying. He would not allow all the power to be destroyed, Neo knows this. The Architect is giving him the two most basic choices, the choice between right and wrong. The Architect lies to him telling him that he should go through the door to save the human race. He wants this to happen because it will reset the matrix and start the code all over again. But there is another underlying theme this time. Neo is in love. Another Human emotion the machines do not understand. So Neo chooses to save trinity. But as the architect stated, she dies. Neo then saves her by manipulating the code and extracting the bullet out of her. You are faster than the others. Is what The Architect told him. So now Neo has done something that all the other five before him has chosen not to do, and succeeded, in saving Trinity. Something the Architect did not count on. He is, of course a machine and cannot comprehend the choices that humans make.Maybe defeating the choice The Architect had planned out for him has spun the code off into a new direction that he could not foresee. Neo now having powers in the real world. He said it himself Something feels different this time. Neo has felt what the other Neos have done before him (Having the dreams of not being able to save trinity). He has some how changed.==============================================================================================.During the extended revolutions preview. You hear a voice-over of Morpheus during the Neo/Smith fight in the rain. Morpheus says something like...Hes fighting for us.What did this mean? The impression I got was that he means Neo is fighting for the people in Zion, but also that Neo was not one of them. Anyone else get this impression.May add fire to the theory that Neo is a program.believe he is talking about Agent Smith...Heres my theory as of now update.Neo is the true one. Before, the other ones made the mistake of being machine-like logical that is. Neo accepts the loss of millions instead of the loss of just one, Trinity. This makes him truly human because he, unlike the other ones, possesses true love. This infallibly makes him human. The other ones are reinserted back into the matrix as the proposed king of that version. When the Merovingian is saying he has conquered your predecessors, I believe he is talking about the other ones obviously, but I also believe he may be the first one...or at least one from the earlier versions. The new version, the one Neo is currently in, is his kingdom. The Merovingian no longer is human, that is biological, but merely a program that represents his electronic self-residual image (think Matrix 1 meets Lawnmower Man). It is his job to try and conquer the new ones, to test their abilities. This is why hes quite surprised when Neo stops his henchmens (which I believe are the Merovingians former hacker crew) bullets (he may have gotten away with saying hmm...upgrades himself). Merovingian being an older one is further illustrated by Persephones quotes he used to be like you, I forgot what love feels like. This gives a little bit of argument towards Persephone being the mother of the matrix, not the oracle (Ive read this reasoning in other posts). She realizes that Neo has true love, which is why she now trusts him to rescue the keymaker.Anyways...to digress, I believe Morpheus is commenting about Agent Smith. He (again, referenced from other posts) may be the chosen one of the machines. This is a good possibility seeing the shared traits Neo and him have now Smiths seeming freedom, Neos connection with all machines (yes, that means that he CAN connect with machines outside the matrix; i.e. no secondary matrix!!!), and their ability to insert themselves into other people. My prediction now is that Agent Smith and Neo will eventually team up with one another to not destroy the matrix but to reunite man and machine AGAIN. This will be the en.================================================================================================.Where do babies come from. This is the only problem I have with the entire Matrix universe. Where do babies come from? When a man and a woman have sex within the Matrix, how do they get pregnant? Do women in the power plants become pregnant and take the baby for extraction? Is each individual fetus grown in a powerplant? If so, how do they get the wires into a fetus? This is the biggest problem I see with the entire Matrix universe itself. If someone has ANY idea on where these babies come from, (I.E. Neos parents. Was the anomoly created as a result of his parents genetic diversity in conjunction with an the mistakes within the Matrix? Or was he grown this way?), then please let me know.====.Heres a more serious problem with the Matrix universe How do the robots actually generate power from humans? Ill admit I havent taken as many science classes as I sohuld have, but heres my view. For a human being to function, they need food. This food eventually has to come from plants grown from the power of the sun. If the sun is blacked out, there are no plants, no food, no human beings. If there is just enough sunlight getting through to grow SOME food, then the machines can just cover the earth with solar panels, or grow food and BURN it for power. Just doesnt really make sense to use human beings as generators, we dont generate power, we convert it from the calories in our food to the kinetic motions of our body. It would seem to be more efficient for the machines to just burn whatever food they feed the humans and save the trouble of the humans, not to mention eliminate the huge power drain caused by the Matrix mainframe which would have to be extraordinarily powerful and would require massive amounts of electricity.=======.Its my understanding that all real humans connected to the matrix are artificially grown just as Morpheous says in the first movie. Its possible that when a couple in the matrix reproduce a child, that the Matrix computers assign simular chromosomes codes from the billions of newly born humans. Sort of like sifting through billions of simular genetic code & assigning the most simular combinations of the people joining in the matrix. Not all of the Wachoski brothers material is fully explained,..but it seems to always be connected & leave some clearly reasonable logical connection.Thats my thoughts on the reproduction of people in the matrix,...anyone eles got ideas, feel freel to elabirate...=====.Well if you saw the Matrix, than you would see the part where Morpheus talks about the humans suppyling energy. I dont remember the exact quote, and im not going to watch the movie right now just to see the correct numerical figure, but basically, Humans provide Nx# of energy to the machines that the sun gives. Where x is times. like, humans provide 10x the amount of energy than the sun. Therefore, they really dont need the sun, and perhaps they have perfected artificial growing of food or chemicals. These are machines that HAVE created an immensely complex matrix universe. I think they would be able to have some sort of artificial food.=====.Morpheous did say in the first movie I witness them (the machines) liguify the dead and feed it to the living introvineously, then began to relize the horror of the truth. It the speech he gives to Neo in explaining the entire matrix concept.====.as far as babies, there must be some means by which the genetic material of the humans who mate in the matrix are removed and then matched up in the real world. otherwise, how would the babies resemble the parents.as for the energy question .....1. the humans could not possibly survive off the intravenous feedings of the liquified dead and nothing else. lets just say that one dead person can maintain a living person for one week. that would mean that it would take 5 deaths per year just to keep one human alive. even if one dead human could nourish a live human for a month, it would still take 1 deaths per year to maintain one life. the human species would dwindle to zero in a few years at that rate unless there is another means of nourishment.. but if there is another means of nourishment, then the machines would benifit more if they just burned it directly instead of feeding it to humans. human beings are very inefficient users of fuel. some of the fuel we take in is used to maintain the body, but most of it is lost as heat into the environment. even if the machines can harness some of the lost heat, it will never reach 100% efficiency because the body requires some energy to survive. lets just say for the sake of argument that humans use 50% of the fuel they take in to survive and lose 50% as heat energy. that would mean that if the machines just burned the fuel that they feed humans, they would yield twice as much usable energy.. a body in stasis does need less fuel than an active body, but it also produces less energy (as heat loss), so that theory is out the window.4. so what if the math doesnt add up. if the machines didnt use humans as batteries, then we wouldnt have these movies, would we ?!?!?!?!?!?!.=======.guess this battery debate illustrates my major problem with much of sci-fi in general why explain everything on scientific terms if youre going to ignore basic physical laws such as the conservation of energy and matter and the laws of thermodynamics? The pseudo-science bothers me, because it masquerades as real science. If they had simply given some BS mystical explanation about the life energies and chi a la Final Fantasy as a power source, I have no problem with that. If youre going to try to define the universe scientifically, you gotta play by the rules. That being said, Itll be very interesting to see how Neos new powers outside of the matrix are explained without resorting to the supernatural.=========.Im a biologist myself with a decent interest in physics, so I do take science pretty seriously. I see your point about complete metaphysics being preferable to pseudo-science, yet I dont mind the way theyve set this up too much, just that theyre fudging the math.I have a feeling though that this is an aspect of the Matrix that the W brothers gave the least amount of thought to human metabolism is a VERY inefficent machine to feed in order to take the resulting heat and electricity; also that the sun is the source of all energy on earth (other than being able to tap into geothermal ducts.Regarding feeding the dead to the living thats a way for the machines to maximize efficiency, but cant possible be the sole source of food for the human batteries (as described abov.================================================================================================.Who is the guy in the end == Agent Smith (in the body of the guy he took over before exiting out of the matri.=================================================================================================.Whats to say that they werent planning to transfer the Keymaker to the Construct? For those who dont remember, its the humans form of the Matrix used for training and the like. Since it operates just like the Matrix, then it would make sense that they could store entities from the Matrix in it, just as they can take items from the Construct with them when they travel to the real Matri.=================================================================================================.Taking humans from the matrix to rebuild Zio.So, does anyone have a theory on how the AI might pull that off? If it was a matrix-inside-matrix, then they could at least control the way it worked, but if they dump them out of the matrix, how exactly would they just found a new Zion. And another thing... if there was only 50000 people inside Zion, how the hell did they come up with all that crazy technology since the last reboot? Maybe they stole it from the AI, but to be able to master all of that within less than 10 generations?(estimate.Which leads to two theorie.1) Zion truly is the last rut of the real, true, humanity on earth and the Architect is bluffin.) The architect is straight u.Only 1) makes sense to me. I cant understand how Zion come form otherwise - it had to be left alone by the AI to be genuine but being left alone means being self-sufficient - and I didnt see the Greeks building any cool see through computer touchscreens.I dont know, seems like quite a plot twist to explain. There is a lot of evidence for Matrix-inside-Matrix and a lot against, and a lot of it has to do with Zion.Agent Peter.... whats happening. Tell you what, were going to need you to go ahead and leave The Matrix (well get to that later) and be part of a group that starts the last point of human salvation, called Zion. Mmmmm... yea.===============.think the way it works i.The one and others are taken to a new Zion built by the machines. It is self sufficient and has all the required technology. The one obviously knows the situation and lies to the others by saying that Zion is the last human city remaining after machines killed of everyone else. So they start a new and increases the population by unplugging and procreating. The One also gives or starts the prophesy that the return of the One will hail the destruction of the matrix. As time passes the One dies (natural old age death) and matrix progresses as it should until the next One is found. At which point the destruction of Zion code starts up again the situation repeates itself.Matrix within a matrix seems too far fetched idea and an easy way out to explain everything.Thats my understanding.===========.Those cool see-through touch screens were in a virtual computer world I think. The air-traffic controllers were plugged in I think.========.or some reason it just now clicked for me tha.16 female.8 males (7+the One.means each male in the New Zion will have wives...I wonder how long it would take for those 4 to get to 50,000 and what that would mean for how long the Matrix has actually been running. After all, Morpheus himself said in the first movie no one is really sure what year it is. If the Matrix keeps ending/reloading and Zion gets destroyed over and over, the humans never technologically progress beyond 1.But not this time.=====================.Heres what I think is going on (But, as a warning, it all comes down to this we dont know until v. of the Matrix is released, and even then I suspect there will be un-answered questions..I highly doubt there is a matrix within a matrix as many people seem to be arguing, that such an existance does exist. Remember, The Architect, in the Architect vs. Neo sceen states You have many questions, and although the process has altered your consciousness, you remain irrevocably human. I believe that is pretty hard to show that there is a matrix within a matrix. Although one could argue that The Architect himself doesnt know, but he does state I am the Architect. I created the matrix. Therefore, I suspect he would know if there were a matrix within a matrix. So why therefore does the city of Zion actually exist? Well, if this is version 6 of the matrix, and The Architect states that You are the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision, it would show that the actual matrix itself has run into a moebius loop; it keeps coming up with the same error pattern, that whereby nearly .% of all test subjects accepted the program .... For whatever the reason is (the rejection of the matrix code upon a certain segment of the human pod-people) it cannot correct this problem within its own source code. This leads to the matrix wishing to reject the individuals, 16 female, 7 male into the city of Zion. Now, as a computer, it obviously knows that these humans will have children, and wish to take back the Earth for their own control, logically it will have to kill them off before they (the humans) attempt to reclaim the land. But, what if infact the city of Zion is allowed to exist because it itself is used by the computer as an error-checking, or bug-checking device? If the humans find the one, then therefore the matrix software has bugs, has to be rebuilt with a modified code, and start all over again. The city of Zion is probably rebuilt by the machines, and a silly legend is left for them, as a sort of tool to help test if an actual one does infact so exist. If the software could actually know who the one is, it would destroy that pod. But, I suspect it doesnt know itself until it is too late. Agent Smith in the first Matrix warned Mr. Anderson to stop hacking around, and placed a bug in him, but Agent Smith wasnt positive Neo was infact the anomaly. (as a side note, i suspect the matrix code was built on microsoft technology, why else would it be so buggy?.As stated by The Architect, when dealing with the first five version of the matrix, the one always takes the right door to save the city of Zion, as opposed to re-entering the matrix. But this time the one chooses a different path, and perhaps alters matrix history forever. So why does Neo develope meta-normal powers outside the matrix? The easy explination is the matrix within a matrix argument, but I dont buy it. If the writers/directors are as philosophically bound as many (such as the producer, Joel Silver, and the three core actors) claim they are, then they are quite aware of human evolution. As things currently stand, the human brain uses 5 - 15 percent of its capacity/usage (depending on who you talk to), but, people with meta-normal abilities seem to show a higher brain usage than those that dont have some sort of ESP abilities (this has been scientifically proven by the way). The idea or thought is that if the human brain evolves, it will start to use more of its abilities, resulting in more abnormal, paranormal behavior. Thus leading to the core arguement that perhaps the human body itself is not needed, but rather the human soul, or spirit, would be able to survive without a body. I suspect that Neo is now exibiting these meta-normal powers because he himself is evolving as a human, and ultimately he will no longer require the use of his physical body.Well, there you go.=================================================================================================.The Matrix within a MATRI.Have you ever had a dream that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? how would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world.SPOILER.Take the blue pill now, and you can believe whatever you want to believe.Go see reloaded first. You have been warned.Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy.Apparantly, the first choice of the architect was to give everyone heaven. Presumably, if you have heaven, youll be happy and never try to leave. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program.Maybe humans just have an aversion to happiness. Maybe they are far too rebellious to remain still for long. Maybe they will always question.A heaven Matrix couldnt work, and still allow humans to be humans.Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this the peak of your civilization. The late twentieth century. But heres the ru.We have only bits and pieces of information. What we know for certain is that, at some point in the early twenty-first century, all of mankind was united in celebration. Through the blinding inebriation of hubris, we marvelled at our magnificence as we gave birth to A.I.So it doesnt remain the peak of human civilization for very long. Now if you are the architect, what are you to do.Why of course, reload it.So every now and then, the Matrix gets reset in order to keep humans dreaming of their peak.So how does a second Matrix play into this. The architect knows that humans, with their primitive cerebrums, will keep trying to wake up if they believe everything is just a dream. So what does he do? He designs a matrix within a matrix. When someone within the Matrix starts noticing that the world is off ... They can wake and go into the desert of the real Matrix. Now since humans are defined by suffering and misery (or so Smith says), the humans who wake naturally accept the desert of the real and thus stop trying to REALLY wake up.Confusing? ;) Basically the desert of the real acts as a backup to keep anyone from REALLY waking up.How do we know there is a desert of the real matrix.1) At the beginning of Reloaded, an Agent infects a human .. then proceeds to exit the matrix. If the agent was just code, he shouldnt be able to exist in Zion. And if the machines could simply do this in the first place (infect real humans), then why wouldnt they have infected everyone a long time ago (while they were still in pods)? The answer no need. Its all Matrix.Of course, only the architect may know this .. but he of course, is the only one who needs to know.)Neo stops the Sentinels in the supposed real world. Now, sure, Neos matrix powers could be transferring over to the real world ... but theres no evidence of this. And surely, you wouldnt expect him to just be able to destroy sentinels if he were just getting his powers. No, the most probable solution is that the real world is also part of the architects program.Wait a minite? Zion is in the Matrix?.Yes.But how can that be you say? You saw Neo get unplugged, you saw them do things in the matrix that they could never do in real life.Ah yes, but maybe the architect wrote many different sets of rules ;.One for those who think they are in the real world (actually the matrix), one for those who think they are outside the matrix, and one for those who move between the two. This way the architect gets to give everyone enough so that they dont actually leave their pods. In fact, Morpheus, Trinity, Neo, and the rest are still in theyre pods.So how does Neo play into this? Simple, not all humans define themselves by suffering and misery alone. Many would question if they were still dreaming, if all they had to hold on to is hell. Which is why the architect has to give them hope. ;) Neo is that hope. It keeps people like Morpheus from really realizing the truth. That everything is a type of control. A system of control, designed by the architect.======.The Oracle (in the game) explains that Neo had a connection with the machines in the real world. It was too much for him and he fell into a coma - a dream like state between the Matrix and the real world. Thus the Matrix within a Matrix idea has been squashed.===========.How exactly is that? Nothing you said contradicts having a matrix within a matrix. In fact, can you think of a better solution for the architect? How else is he supposed to keep eveyone in theyre pods. The Matrix has you.============.But the problem is that we dont know whether the Oracle is good or evil. I suppose you could see her as the compassion side of the matrix while the architect as the rules(???.The matrix within matrix idea has its merit, at least thats what I got from the Architects speech.Of course theres the question of choice that one has to consider if The One is part of matrixs design then choice isnt; the Architect said something about Neos love for Trinity created a improbable effect that choice can actually exist within the matrix, hence the decay of the system and the total shut-down implied by the Architect.Am I making sense at all? No? Oh well...===========.this is probably the most well put explanation for the dual matrix ive read.as far as the game, that doesnt disprove the dual matrix. if he had a temporary connection, that could be argued that for the 14 seconds he was awake after he said he could feel them, perhaps he realized he was connected to them because they were still in a program.also, right before he turned around he said what he always said in the real matrix, something is different. somethings been changed. h.==============.Warning - Spoilers!.Hey MM, youre on the right track, but not sceptical enough. Zion and all the real humans are part of a second level matrix. That becomes pretty clear when you really listen to the architects speech at the end, and ask yourself how Neo is able to stop the sentinals at the end in Zion. Somebody has posted the architects whole speech at http//www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=657876#post65787.It really helps to read it.But...If Zion et al. is part of a second level matrix then isnt the whole human as battery thing also not true? Isnt that part of the ruse of the second level matrix. It doesnt seem to me that we know very much at all now at the end of the second movie. We dont even know whether there is any real human behind Neo and the rest. The stuff you quote from Morpheus in the first movie is meaningless, unless it functions on two levels. In reality Morpheus doesnt even know how true his words are.The celebration quote gives added meaning to the (too long) rave scene. All of humanity united in celebration - but really it is just before its destruction. The sad thing is that Morpheus turns out to be the biggest fool of all. The WBs seem to be taking the Marxist view of religion (the opiate of the people) - with all the prophecy stuff just meant to prolong the lifespan of the first (and second) level matrix. Again, youve really got to read the architects final speech to get all this. The question is What does it mean that Neo chose the door on his left, rather than the door on his right (like all the previous neo-anomolies).Peace.================.t means that ultimately, the machines cannot control the humans with this solution. By giving humans choice, eventually a human, in this case Neo, will make the decision which the machines believe to be wrong, and screw up the whole pattern. This is the case whether or not were going with the Matrix within a Matrix theory or not. Humans very humanity makes them impossible to predict ALL the time, impossible to satisfy ALL the time, so the design of the Matrix is flawed, and ultimately a human will make a decision (say, left door?) that screws their plans.=============.t means that he is choosing to destroy it whereas the others decided to perpetuate it.now maybe not completely destroy, but hes not continuing it the way it normally was done. he chose love, which they knew he would.this is perhaps why the agents were trying to kill him in the first one, to prevent this from happening.i dont even see this as a question of whether its going on or not. there are more things in the 1st and nd film to point towards this theory. i believe though that how the programmer, oracle, and smith fit into this.the programmer is trying to take over the matrix. hes a man in power trying to get more. the only step above him is the architect. its possible he thinks hes smarter than the architect and will try the matrix a different way. he wants to get rid of the oracle, who is the one perpetuating the prophecy. only his time the prophecy seems to actually come true. she even says neo has made a believer out of her.===========.But we dont even know that neo is really a human - he could just be an anomally of the first level matrix program. If that is what he is - then choice is part of the anomally. That is why the architect cant control whether he chooses the left or right door. The anomally / neo acts against reason (and for love) by choosing the door on his left, and thus for the first time, somehow becomes separate from the matrix.I think the WBs are going with something like the way Data becomes more human in star trek. He is a computer program, but he transcends that.Thats my theory and Im stickin with it...until I figure out something better at least.=============.Who is the programmer? Is he the bad guy down in Zion? The guy on the other table at the end.If not, then who was that guy? Why didnt we learn more about him? Is he a kind of Agent in the second level / zion matrix. The zion-as-second-level-matrix idea makes perfect sense of Agent Smith. Because of his cross polination with neo he is able to transcend the matrix and go into the second level matrix. And the Oracle is (unfortunately) just part of the ruse of the first level matrix, meant to placate those in the second level matrix just a little longer.===========.Ok I am leaning towards something similiar to a nd Matrix theory, but still want to point out a few of my own observations..My first reaction was a flashback to the movie 1th Floor. So the double layers could be possible and easily explained. I dont think it is the only possibility but a likely one.As to 1) it wasnt an Agent that infected Bain in the begining, it was Smith who is no longer an Agent and also the only thing that appears to be different from previous versions. Just like before. Well not exactly And the only reason he had gained the power was due to the method in which Neo tried to destroy him, leaving bits of overwritten code. Now it can be explained that Smith doesnt actually exist in Bains form just that he overwrote Bains consciousness, kind of an extreme brainwashing. Hence the psycho behaviour of cutting his own hand while waiting for Neo.And ) is the reason I am leaning most to a nd matrix theory, for I see no logical way to explain how Neo not only sensed the machines but stopped them. I would go as far as to say that his comma is because he is waking up into reality. Also I look at the Matrix from a computer stand point. Mainframes are built on redundant systems in case of failure, so if I were to design a Matrix I would build systems as safety net. Someone starts to question reality, dump them in an alternative that will answer their question. Total control.rd Morpheous makes statement they have been fighting for 100 years. But we are told there have been 5 other Ones There just isnt enough time for there to be 5 in a 100 years, so Zion has to be totally unaware of this fact. And if they rebuild Zion everytime, then why didnt one of those people take some notes leave a journal. But no, their only prophecy comes from the Oracle not through any history.4th the system has to be restarted every so often, for the reasons of not allowing the humans to advance too far, and besides anyone here have a computer that never needs to be rebooted due to errors? .5th Free your mind Who knows what they have up their sleeves. Despite the original intent of The Matrix, things are different this time. Former Agent Smith and his new found abilities, Neo going through the wrong door. One question that has bothered me though since the original. Machines need humans for energy, k got that, but what is the source of the energy that the humans use? Is it explained that they harness the heat of the core and convert it to energy? However they get it why doesnt the machines just take their energy source? Which leads to maybe humans dont have an energy source to take cause they arent really out, there is no Zion, everyone is plugged in..=====.Ah, but see, Neo never had a choice of which door to go through. He was always going to go through the door to save trinity. The oracle knew that. The architect knew that.Yet, he explicitly tells Neo that Trinity is in danger. Why? He didnt have to do that.He could have just told Neo that the second door leads back to the Matrix (no mention of trinity). Then Neo probably would have gone on to the source. So why did the architect mention trinity? Because he wanted Neo to go back to the Matrix ;.And considering that the architect is trying to preserve the Matrix ... I get the feeling that he tricked Neo yet again. If Neo had gone through the other door, he probably could have become the new architect. And he could have just wiped out all the agent programs ;.Never send a human to do a machines jo.==========.Architect Hello Ne.Neo Who are you.Architect I am the Architect. I created the Matrix. I have been waiting for you. You have many questions and although the process has altered your consciousness you remain irrevocably human, ergo some of my answers you will understand and some of them you will not. Concordantly, while your first question maybe the most pertinent you may or may not realize it is also the most irrelevant.Neo Why am I here.Architect Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent in the programming of the matrix. You are the eventuality of an anomaly which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision. While it remains a burden deciduously avoided it is not unexpected and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led you inexcerably here.Neo You haven't answered my question.Architect Quite right. Interesting, that was quicker then the others.Neo Others? (What others? How many? Answer me.Architect The Matrix is older then you know. I prefer counting from the emergence of one integral anomaly to the emergence of the next. In which case this is the sixth version.Neo Then there are only two possible explanations, either no one told me, or no one knows.Architect Precisely, as you are undoubtedly gathering the anomaly is systemic. Creating fluctuations in even the most simplistic equations.Neo Choice, the problem is choice.Architect The first matrix I designed was quite naturally perfect; it was a work of art, flawless, sublime. A triumph equaled only by its monumental failure. The inevitability of its doom is apparent to me now as a consequence of the imperfection inherent in every human being. Thus, I redesigned it, Based on your history to more accurately reflect the varying grotesqueries of your nature. However I was again frustrated my failure. I have since come to understand that the answer eluded me because it required a lesser mind a mind less bound by the parameters of perfection. Thus the answer was stumbled upon by another, and intuitive program, initially created to investigate certain aspects of the human psyche. If I am the father of the matrix, she would undoubtedly be its mother.Neo The Oracl.Architect Please, as I was saying she stumbled upon a solution whereby nearly percent of all test subjects accepted the program as long as they were given a choice, even if they were only aware of the choice at an unconscious level. While this answered function it was obviously fundamentally flawed thus creating the otherwise contradictory systemic anomaly. That if left unchecked might threaten the system itself, ergo those that refuse the program while the minority if unchecked would cause an escalating probability of disaster.Neo This is about Zio.Architect You are here because Zion is about to be destroyed. Its every living inhabitant terminated, its entire existence eradicated.Neo Bul.Architect Denial is the most predictable of all human responses. But, rest assured, this will be the sixth time we have destroyed it. And we have become exceedingly efficient at it. The function of the One is now to return to the source allowing a temporary dissemination of the code you carry reinserting the prime program after which you will be required to select from the matrix individuals, 16 female 7 male, to rebuild Zion. Failure to comply with this process will result in a cataclysmic system crash killing everyone connected to the matrix. Which, coupled with the extermination of Zion will ultimately result in the extinction of the entire human race.Neo You won't let it happen, you can't. You need human beings to survive.Architect There are levels of survival we are prepared to accept. However the relevant issue is whether you are ready to accept the responsibility for the death of every human being in this world. It is interesting reading your reactions. Your 5 predecessors were by design based on a similar predication a contingent affirmation that was meant to create a profound attachment to the rest of your species facilitating the function of the One. While the others experienced this in a very general way your experience is far more specific, Vis a vie love.Neo Trinit.Architect Apropo, she entered the matrix to save your life at the cost of her own.Neo N.Architect Which brings us at last to the moment of truth, wherein the fundamental flaw is ultimately expressed and the anomaly revealed as both beginning and end. There are two doors, the door to your right leads to the source and the salvation of Zion, the door to your left leads back to the matrix to her and to the end of your species. As you adequately put, the problem is choice. But we already know we you are going to do don't we? Already I can see the chain reaction the chemical precursors that signal the onset of an emotion designed specifically to overwhelm logic and reason. An emotion that is already blinding you from the simple and obvious truth, she is going to die and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Hope, it is the quintessential human delusion simultaneously the source of your greatest strength and your greatest weakness.Neo If I were you, I would hope that we don't meet again.Architect We won't.======================.he programmer is most likely referring to Merovingian, the one that held the Keymaker, which technically speaking he would also be a program. The bad guy in Zion is the same guy on the other table at the end, Bain the one that Agent Smith copied himself to.============.Yes, exactly. When the architect talks about choice I dont think hes talking about everything humans do.I think the choice is whether to live in the matrix or to wake up and live in the desert of the real.As long as humans have this one choice, whether to choose heaven or hell, then they will accept whatever consequences come of it.Remember that in the park, the Oracle tells Neo you didnt come here to make a choice .. you came here to find the reason for the choic.=============.And ) is the reason I am leaning most to a nd matrix theory, for I see no logical way to explain how Neo not only sensed the machines but stopped them. I would go as far as to say that his comma is because he is waking up into reality. That would make perfect sense. Neo stopped the machines because he believed he could. Which means he probably believed he was still in a computer simulation. So Neos coma is him finally waking up into the real world. Also I look at the Matrix from a computer stand point. Mainframes are built on redundant systems in case of failure, so if I were to design a Matrix I would build systems as safety net. Someone starts to question reality, dump them in an alternative that will answer their question. Total control.Exactly. Lets give the machines some credit. Why build one matrix when you can do .One question that has bothered me though since the original. Machines need humans for energy, k got that, but what is the source of the energy that the humans use? Is it explained that they harness the heat of the core and convert it to energy? However they get it why doesnt the machines just take their energy source? Which leads to maybe humans dont have an energy source to take cause they arent really out, there is no Zion, everyone is plugged in..The humans use machines, all I know is its a type of fusion.=========================.Matrix-in-Matrix theory is incoherent and incompatible with the philosophy of the rest of the movie. All these theories about failsafes and backup Matrices, etc. seem to want to reaffirm the absolute system of control of the machines over humans. I argue that the fundamental message of these movies is (successfully) breaking out of the system of control (The Matrix, Prophecy, and causality) and destroying it, leaving you free to forge your own destiny apart from machine-determined causality--which wouldnt be possible if Neo and the Zion humans arent really in the real world.Matrix-in-Matrix theory seems preoccupied with explaining an isolated incident of Neo destroying the Sentinels at the end. In trying to explain this one scene, the whole entire philosophy of the rest of the movies (Reloaded and original, remember) gets disregarded and contradicts the whole causality/free choice/meaning of life discussion that permeated the entire movie. Im waiting for MRevolutions to explain this scene rather than think I can up with a philsophical subtext that does not exist in the movies. The other scene Matrix-in-Matrix conspiracy theorists get hung up over is Agent Smith exiting the Matrix. Agent Smith has already been shown to be able to replicate himself by overwriting other programs, which is clearly what he did with the human--overwriting the humans consciousness with his own.Im still unclear how the Architects speech supports Matrix-in-Matrix theory. It seems that a simple reading would take the Architect at his word, that Neo is the 6th human to be the One, the problem with the Matrix is choice, Zion is about to get destroyed for the 6th time, Trinity is in danger, Neo is needed to reboot (reload) the Matrix or the system will crash and all the pod-humans that depend on it for survival, and that all this stuff is really actually happening in what is really the real world. Matrix-in-Matrix would seem to say that what the Architect was saying isnt true, that its all a charade...which would make me wonder why the Wachowskis made this movie in the first place and why the hell I am watching it.Matrix-in-Matrix theory contradicts, changes and disregards everything the movies are trying to say philosophically. If the real world is just another Matrix, you would have to explain away the rest of the movie, esp. Morpheus fate/destiny/prophecy and Merovingians causality/free choice speeches.http//us.imdb.com/title/tt0415/board/nest/157544?d=15804#1580.=================.Given that most questions about MReloaded will likely remain unanswered until MRevolutions...There is an old philosophical principle known as Ockhams Razor that basically says the most probable explanation for a given phenomenon is the simplest one.For example, when I step on the pedal my car moves forward. How to explain this? Let us consider two possible explanation.1) Stepping on the pedal causes a boot to kick a giant gerbil under the hood, causing it to run a wheel and the car moves forward.) Stepping on the pedal causes gasoline to flow to a combustion engine under the hood, converting it to mechanical energy and the car moves forward.Knowing what we know about physics and mechanical objects, which is the simplest (and hence the most probable) explanation.Considering the Wachowski bros. are obvious students of philosophy, it follows that their movie would conform to Ockhams Razor. So what is the simplest explanation.1) Real world is actually Matrix-in-Matrix, absolutely everything that has happened up to this point, from the first movie to now, is an illusion, that the Wachowski bros. have spent two whole movies telling us a story that isnt real, and that in the last remaining movie all of this is going to be thrown away in favor of an entirely new story that will explain what is really going on. MR is about machines controlling humans and the machines have nothing to worry about since the humans really have no chance at all since what theyre doing isnt real. This movie in fact has never shown us the real world (if it even exists). All that philosophical pontificating by Morpheus, Merovingian and Architect has no bearing on the story the Wachowski bros. are trying to tell.) The real world is the real world, the Architect was telling the truth (why would he lie, anyway? none of the other machine characters-Oracle, Smith, Merovingian, Persephone, Seraph-have ever lied to or deceived Neo) and that, yes, what you see happening on screen is what is actually happening. MR is about machines manipulating causes (Zion, Oracle, Prophecy, the One) to ensure that humans inevitably make the choices the machines want them to. This movie is in fact about the relationship between causality and free choice and the meaning of life if your choices are determined by causes beyond your control. These philosophical points were made over and over and over in the movie by several different characters, people.Matrix-in-Matrix theory raises more questions than it answers (how many Matrices exist? why the whole charade? why the hell would Wachowski bros. spend $00million telling a story that ultimately has no meaning?), undermines the philosophical discussion the movies are obviously trying to engender, introduces unnecessary complexity to the plot and thus is cut up by Ockhams Razor. The Wachowskis have invested far too much time, money and energy into these movies to just throw it all away for ridiculous Matrix-in-Matrix theory. They are obviously trying to make movies that are way deeper than your typical Hollywood no-brainer action flick--which is what Matrix-in-Matrix theory reduces The Matrix movies to. Personally, I believe what the Wachowskis are trying to say is we are free to make choices contrary to causality (our lives are not predetermined) and thus we are free to create our own meaning for our lives. Reloaded in computer terms refers to restarting or reinitializing a computer program, clearly the choice the Architect expects Neo to make. Neo chose not to reload the program, defied causality/fate/destiny, and broke the infinite loop. What happens next has not been predetermined, thus life has meaning and we get to come back for a third movie to see how our heros/heroines made their own destiny.Matrix-in-Matrix contradicts that by saying causality determines all our choices, we really arent free (though we think we are), and thus our lives have no meaning. So are these movies about systems of control (Matrix-in-Matrix) or forging your own destiny? What is the simplest explanation for what you see on screen? That it is or that it isnt.I challenge anyone to post a philosophical defense of Matrix-in-Matrix theory without totally contradicting everything that has been said in The Matrix movies.================.Ok, after having seen the movie twice, I think Ive developed some reasoning that disproves the annoying Matrix in a Matrix theory.1 Explosions in the Matrix. When something blows up in the Matrix, the code has to quickly adjust. As weve witnessed in both movies so far, this results in a huge ripple affecting entire structures before the explosion actually occurs. When the Nebuchanezzar blows up in the Real World, there is no ripple. It just blows up, like real things do. Multiple Zion.If Zion were simply a Matrix, there would only be one, that is constantly reset. I noticed, in my second viewing, that there is another, older, (and empty) Zion that the Sentinels are flying by. You can tell it is an older Zion because of the identical structure of the living quarters. (The long shot earlier of the walkways that diagonally cross the big cylindrical area). If Zion was a Matrix, there would only ever be one of it. Being Plugged-I.As we know, everyone who is plugged into the Matrix through the Machines connection can be taken over at any time by an Agent, if the system knows the location of the human they wish to take over.Since anybody who went up to the next level of the Matrix would be immediately known to the Machines, those people would logically be immediately taken over by Agents, since they only make up 1% of the populace anyway. There would be no need for a Zion, and the Agents would simply head back into the lower Matrix. This doesnt happen in the movies because they have woken up into the real world, and the machines can no longer take them over.4 Smiths Human For.People say no program could take over a person, but the programs are basically the same as the people in the Matrix, except they have no external bodies. They are brains in the Matrix. Smiths brain replaces Banes brain and then uses the former humans connection to exit the Matrix. Clever, no.5 Neos Power. The Architect talks about how Neo is a systemic anomaly, who comes about because of the random elements in the code, caused by human choices. This affects Neos entire being, not merely his Matrix self. As he grows more powerful, he realizes that his powers can extend into the real world, because his mind has been enhanced due to the Matrix code, not unlike the education programs he downloads from disc. So, the real world is real. There is no second Matrix. Zion is essentially a convenient place for the Machines to store humans who have rejected the code until a new One comes along. They prevent the human population from reaching a level that can effectively rebel, and they restabilize the Matrix. Unfortunately for them, Neo has decided to break the endless cycle, and make one last attempt at total freedom, or total destruction. I cant wait for Revolutions.========================.Heres what I think is going on (But, as a warning, it all comes down to this we dont know until v. of the Matrix is released, and even then I suspect there will be un-answered questions..I highly doubt there is a matrix within a matrix as many people seem to be arguing, that such an existance does exist. I suspect that Neo is now exibiting these meta-normal powers because he himself is evolving as a human, and ultimately he will no longer require the use of his physical body.Well, there you go.================================================================================================.Each time theyve re-loaded the matrix, more and more people have accepted it but there are always some who reject it. Those who reject it are those in Zion. There is also always an anomaly in the matrix program; this time it is Neo. And there are programs that go astray, like the vampire dudes and Agent Smith. All these added up makes the reality of the matrix more and more complex, so they have to restart it every once in a while and clear the slate, just like I have to restart my computer every time it starts to freeze up.The white-suit guy tells Neo that the machines have destroyed Zion and its inhabitants five times already, its part of their long-term plan to deal with those that reject the matrix as well as to eliminate the anomaly... to reboot the system when it builds up too many bugs, so to speak. In fact, the machines know about Zion and have taken steps to keep it going; they designed the prophesy and the oracle and everything, simply so all those who dont fit into the matrix have somewhere to go without junking up the machines entire plan. This implies that Zion and the real world are also a part of the matrix, and everybody in Zion is still really plugged in, too. This explains why Agent Smith was able to enter Zion, and why Neo was able to stop the sentinels. It will turn out that Neo is the strongest anomaly yet, and he has the unprecedented ability to choose both choices (as he did in the first movie) and still succeed.Watch it turn out that there are no machines after all, itll all be run by humans who need the power source, and the machines angle is just as much BS in the Zion part of the matrix as our world is in that part of the matri.================================================================================================.The dude on the table at the end is the one who agent smith messed with early in the flick. Among the cool ability to replicate himself, Smith has figured out a way to put some part of his code into people who are hacking into the matrix (or at least modify their code). This will undoubtedly turn out to be a critical part of the third movie, as Smith realizes (if he doesnt already know) that Zion is under the control of whoever is really controlling the matix. Im not making any predictions, but it isnt inconceivable that Smith will end up working with the people of zion to figure out what reality really is... or something like that.================================================================================================.spoiler answe.Yes, the bad guy in the coma was indeed a copy of Agent Smith. Though he was originally a good guy (a member of the resistance trying to get vital info from the Matrix back to Zion), he gets caught by Agent Smith before he can be tele-zapped back to reality. Smith then jabs his fingers into the guys chest and makes him a virus copy. Just then, the phone rings-- the rebels life-line back to reality. The rebel, now a Smith clone, answers the phone, and transports the Smith virus back to the real world. When the rebel guy awakens, and ends up back in Zion, he attempts to assassinate Neo, but is foiled by that really annoying kid who follows Neo around like a puppy. Then, rebel bad guy tries to get his captain to volunteer to help locate the Nebuccanezzar (sp?), another attempt at assassinating Neo. When THAT failed, he then sabotaged Zions defenses against the sentinals, destroying five Zion ships. He was the only one found alive, and now lies two feet away from a comatose Neo...===============================================================================================.Ive just seen the movie for the third time and Ive been reading this board in the last four days.
