Write my Essay on food and excercise for me

According to the food guide pyramid, after recording the meals that i ate over the coarse of three days, I was not eating that well. I exceeded in the milk, meat, and other category. My least favorable category was the bread group. I was only two points under in the fruits and vegetable categories..

Whenever I eat I should think about the food pyramid and the suggested amounts in each category. In most of the groups I didn't meet the expectations for recommended servings. The group that I ate the most of was the other group, which isin't very good since the food pyramid doesn't show any recommended servings for that group. I usually don't eat much at school or in the mornings or at home. That leaves work so for the most part all I eat is Taco Bell, and that is not healthy at all.

I don't use the pyramid when selecting food choices, mostly I eat what looks good at the time. There are nutrients in some of the stuff I eat when you break them down into the food groups. I have energy everyday, some days more than others. Some foods that I could add to my diet to make it more healthy and accurate according to the pyramid are salads, pasta, cereals, bread, and more fruits and vegetables. I should also consider drinking water or mild instead of soda so much. Instead of eating at work all the time I could make me something healthy and eat at home before I go to work. Water and fats should be included in my food choices because water carries oxygen , nutrients, wastes, and other minerals from place to place in my body and fat provides energy..

Examples of some foods that offer nutrients and are low in fat and calories are fruits and vegetables. The best foods for you support normal growth, maintains strong muscles, sound bones, healthy skin, and they provide enough blood to clean and nourish all parts of the body. Vegetables and meats help reduce he risk of getting ill later on in life, you should also take vitamins..

From day to day I do pretty much the same exercise. Walking from class to class, working, and walking eighteen blocks home. The suggested amount of exercise is cardiovascular three to four times a week and the same for flexibility and muscular strength and endurance. I exceeded in the cardiovascular and muscular strength and endurance and I meet the requirement exactly in flexibility.

To meet requirements you could walk around at lunch instead of sitting. Walk to school in the morning. Get a job that is active and will keep you on your feet.

Physical and psychological benefits of leading an active lifestyle are these people experience less anxiety depression, know how to deal with emotional stress better, physical activity helps prevent acne , back aches, cancer, diabetes, headaches, and heart and blood vessel disease.

Until I left for college, my family and I visited my grandmother several times a week. I did not like visiting my grandmother. Seeing her is depressing. My grandmother doesn't live in her own home anymore. She currently resides in a nursing home. My grandmother is sick, and it is so sad to see her in her present state, when only a few years ago she was full of life, and would take me shopping or to the amusement park. She was such an active person. She went "a mile a minute", and nothing could stop her, but now, she has slowed and she can't walk even when she tries her best. I talk to her, and she is slow to respond. She can't keep her eyes open all of the time, due to her frequent blepharospasms. At first we thought that she was not paying attention, but later, we found that this random closing of the eye was just another part of her disease. She has trouble swallowing food and drink, and my family is debating whether or not she needs a gastrostomy tube. I love my grandmother very much, and worry about her constantly. She has Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).You've never heard of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, huh? I am not surprised. Progressive Supranuclear Palsy is rare - only about 4-5 percent as common as Parkinsons disease (Golbe 00). I had never heard of PSP either, until my grandmother was diagnosed with it in 17. It is often misdiagnosed as Parkinson's, as in the case of my grandmother, who was misdiagnosed as having Parkinson's when she visited the Mayo clinic in Arizona in the summer of 15 (Golbe 00). She was then treated for Parkinson's disease. In fact, PSP may not clearly emerge until several years following the initial visit to the neurologist (Tetrud 00). It turns out that the most common first symptom, occurring, on average, in the 60s, is loss of balance while walking (Golbe 00). These losses of balance may take the form of unexplained falls or of a stiffness and awkwardness in the walk that can resemble Parkinsons disease (Golbe 00). Sometimes the falls are described by the person experiencing them as attacks of dizziness (Golbe 00). A few years after my grandmother's Parkinson's diagnosis, she did in fact have these "dizzy spells", as she called them, and it was after several repeated falls that she was finally referred to a neurologist in 17. After a few more falls, my family made the difficult decision to have my grandmother use a wheelchair. At first, she was depressed by having to use the wheelchair, but eventually she realized that she was safer in a wheelchair. Other common early symptoms of PSP are forgetfulness and changes in personality, which she also exhibited (Golbe 00).Progressive Supranuclear Palsy is a brain disorder involving the death of neurons in areas of the brain called basal ganglia and the brain stem, which are important for controlling movement, balance, vision, swallowing, and speech (Introduction 00). Progressive Supranuclear Palsy may sound complicated, but when broken down, this disease is broken down word by word, it is rather simple to grasp. The "progressive" part of the diseases name stems from the fact that its symptoms get slowly worse over time, from diagnosis to late stages, typically three to ten years (Facts 00). The term "supranuclear" refers to the nature of the eye problem in PSP (Golbe 00). People with PSP are unable to aim their eyes properly (Golbe 00). Due to the damage of the brain, patients with PSP are unable to move their eyes down without much difficulty (Solomon 00). Most of the problems with eye movement, as seen in other diseases, arise from the nuclei surrounding the brainstem, where the impulses responsible for signaling eye movement originate, but in PSP, the problem lies in parts of the brain that control eye movement (Golbe 00). These "higher" control areas are what the prefix "supra" in "supranuclear" refers to (Golbe 00). The musculature of the eyes loses its ability to move, hence the "palsy", or paralysis (Facts 00).With the further degeneration of the brainstem, other symptoms are brought about, such as the inability to swallow, and impaired speech. One of the most difficult aspects of visiting my grandmother in the nursing home is not being able to understand what my grandmother is trying to say. Many times, she will talk me, and all I can do is smile and nod I just can't understand her. She mumbles. She knows what she is trying to say, but all that comes out of her mouth are slurred jumbles of words. This speech impediment is typical of PSP, and it is often referred to as "spastic" or "ataxic" speech (Golbe 00). PSP speech has an irregular, explosive quality or a drunken quality (Golbe 00). The speech problem is also related to my grandmothers inhibited ability to swallow solid food. It turns out that the ability to swallow is also controlled by the basal area of the brain, and when it is damaged, the ability to swallow is limited. My grandmother can swallow only a few types of solid food, and most every that has any real substance other than cooked vegetables has to be pureed. My family has just recently discovered that my grandmother's ability to swallow anything will be severely impaired, and her chances of choking on food and developing pneumonia from inhaling food will increase. The big decision in our family right now is whether or not we should have a gastrostomy tube placed in her. A gastrostomy tube is in a sense a false esophagus that is made out of tubing that connects the stomach to the outside of the abdomen, allowing for the safe transport of pureed food into the stomach. The installation of a gastrostomy tube is often perceived as an ominous sign of disease progression, but a gastrostomy tube will improve a swallowing-impaired patients quality of life because it allows for adequate nutrition, minimizes the chance of aspiration pneumonia (Tetrud 00).

Cheap custom writing service can write essays on Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

Up to this point, I have mainly concentrated on the physical symptoms of progressive supranuclear palsy, but with these physical symptoms, several psychological symptoms arise, such as slowed thought and difficulty in the synthesis of several ideas into a new idea or plan, and dementia (Golbe). The most striking of the mental symptoms, dementia is one of the more difficult and disturbing aspects of PSP. The dementia surrounding PSP, according to Golbe, does not feature the memory problem apparent in Alzheimer's disease, but this conclusion contradicts my own experiences with my grandmother. Every time I visit my grandma, she always has to be reminded that one of her deceased relatives is died several years ago. She has also had numerous hallucinations including "bodiless men", "the abortion of her baby while in the hospital for surgery", and my grandfather's "homosexual African lovers". She is sometimes violent during her little hallucinations, and she sometimes scares me. I think some of her dementia stems from some of the drugs that she is on to treat her PSP, but I wonder how much of the dementia is actually caused by PSP.

Progressive Supranuclear Palsy is not a cheap "over-the-counter" disease. My grandmother takes a large amount of medications as treatment for PSP. She currently takes Requip, DSS/Casanthranil, Enulose, Lisinopril, Zyprexa, Carbo/Levo (Sinemet), Fosamax, Clonazepam, Zoloft, and Seroquel (C.R. Patrick 00 and C.T. Patrick 00). The prices of her medications, per month range from $1.77 to $64.88 (Burk 00). The total cost of her medications annually is $10,58.88, without insurance (Burk 00). Luckily, insurance covers much of the cost of medication in our country, at least. In third world countries, where medical care is poor, people have to pay face value for medication. In Europe, people have the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy of Europe, which raises money for the continued research of PSP (Introduction 00). Another cost that must be factored into the total cost of PSP is nursing home prices. The nursing home that my grandmother is in costs $4,500 a month, or $54,000 per year (C.T. Patrick 00). There are cheaper nursing homes in the country, but with a decrease in price, there also comes a decrease in care. My grandmother's case of PSP alone costs $64,58.88 without insurance.

Not only does Progressive Supranuclear Palsy have such an outrageous monetary price, it also has a high emotional price for the patient as well as for the family of the patient. To have to see my grandmother in a wheelchair in a nursing home, unable to fully communicate, walk, eat, and sleep tears me apart. It is so hard to see a loved one in such pitiful condition after a relatively short period of time. As much as it hurts me to have to see my grandmother with PSP, I can only imagine what she must feel. I must be hard to have to live in a place other than your home, let alone a place filled with sick and senile elderly people. The dementia associated with PSP leaves its victims confused and in freakish delusional states. In a conversation with my grandmother one day, she said, "I don't know why this happened to me…but I go on. We just have to deal with it [the PSP]." Although her condition is depressing, I still find hope in my grandmother's determination her will to live. Works Cite.Burk, Michelle P. "Rx prices." Do men and woman have different managerial styles. There are two predominant theories fueling the debate on our present perception of "management style". One of the working theories, the psychological perspective, suggests men and women differ in management style because of experiences while growing up. A second, the situational perspective, argues that similar situations produce similar behaviors with no regard to gender. Neither theory offers concrete evidence, while both offer insights to the perception of today's corporate choice. Profits and the "bottom line" is the motivator for this perception and why men are perceived as having the best managerial style. The psychological perspective suggests men tend to be more competitive, demonstrate more independence, and are instrumentally oriented. This can be perceived as a true statement. A school playground will be predominately gender segregated. Male children are often the game players, while females are found in social groups. This segregation provides different rewards for different behaviors. Competitiveness, independence, rewards power or leadership. Social groups, talking, generally lead to experiencing emotion and offers comfort and support. Making it easy to presume effective management is a male trait. For example, a necessary tool like communication provides differences in styles of management. One researcher concludes that "when men were speaking in a group, they tend to compete to capture the floor, while women tended to take turns speaking." (Grant 56-6). This one tool shows style difference in that men competitively seek a position at the top of the pyramid, while the female seeks the more neutral or middle position. This theory shows a very clear difference in style. The situational perspective suggests men and women are equal in similar situations. It is also proposed that the environment they both experience while operating in similar situations should produce similar results. This theory does not argue against different styles, only end results. Rosabeth Moss Kanter provides an example from her study of corporate bureaucracy. She argues that "regardless of gender, managers who were'stuck' or'plateaued' behaved very differently from those who were moving up." Although the theory that men and women may produce similar results given the same circumstances, they will manage differently depending on perception of that circumstance

Cheap University Papers on Mangerial Styles, Men vs. Women

Both theories demonstrate a strong influence of male domination in management. Traditional views and learned social behavior continue to point heavily toward male dominance in this arena. Newer thinking and perspectives proposing that the job makes the person has yet to curb corporate view of the money making style of management. Right or wrong, men produce, while women support. For example, use your own image of a manager. When the word is used, do you conjure an image of a male or female. In conclusion, we can see a clear difference in management styles of men and women. Profits continue to drive decisions on what type of management style is used. Is there a correct answer to the question of who possesses the better management style? More debate and accumulated fact is needed to provide a concrete answer. As for the question "Do men and woman have different managerial styles?" the answer is yes. Analysis of Virginia Woolf passage.

.From Virginia Woolf's experiences at the University, one at a men's college and the other at a women's college, she sees how low the status of women compared to the status of men, which leaves her envious of men..

The quality of food that was served at the men's college is high-class. Woolf describes in lush details what was eaten; "the soles with the whitest cream, the sharp and sweet sauces and salads, the succulent sprouts, the pudding, the yellow and crimson wine," gives the readers a vivid image of the food expected at a classy restaurant. On the contrary, the women had plain, transparent gravy soup, a homely trinity of beef, greens, and potatoes suggesting the rumps of cattle in a muddy market, yellowed sprouts, prunes, and the water-jug. Anyone would say that the men's meal was much more appealing. Wolff sees that the women's meal when compared to the men's is like comparing leftover dinner to an expensive five-star meal. "It is part of the novelist's convention not to mention soup and salmon and ducklings were of no importance whatsoever, as if nobody ever smoked a cigar or drank a glass of wine", she states, however, she takes "the liberty to defy that convention" and illustrates the luxurious meal she enjoyed to compare to the meal where "there was no reason to complain…"

Cheap University Papers on Analysis of Virginia Woolf passages

Partly because of how food is described in the first passage, the tones of Woolf seem to be delighted and contented. Not only was the food delectable but also the setting was relaxing and comfortable. The second passage seems to show more gratitude, yet with sarcasm. Woolf realizes that there are more unfortunate individuals than herself, which gives her a reason to be grateful. However, she says, "We are all going to heaven… how admirable friendship and society of one's kind…" which shows evidence that she saw that the grass was greener on the other side..

In the story "Just Lather That's All", the most respected person is Captain Torres. Torres is a military captain that leads a group of soldiers everyday to fight the rebels and protect the people of his town. His duty is to follow the law of the land and he is very proud of his job. Firstly, Captain Torres is a very brave man and he takes his duty very seriously. For example, one time on a rebel hunting mission, he followed the rebels deep into the woods for four days and returned with 14 of them. Secondly, Captain Torres is also an intelligent person. One day, he ordered the whole town to come to a public trial where, he gave the order to hang four rebels. He did that to discourage the town's people from becoming rebels and also to scare the rebels. Thirdly, Captain Torres is a risk taker. People told Captain Torres that the town barber was his enemy and if he ever gets his beard shaved by him he will get killed. The barber thought of the Captain as his enemy because he kills rebels and the barber was secretly a rebel. Since the story was in the Barber's point of view, he misleads the readers by showing them that the Captain is a bad person. However, Captain Torres risks his life to teach the barber a lesson; that killing isn't easy but since he is in the military, it is his duty to execute the rebels. Killing is not something that he likes to do, it is just his duty. Finally, Captain Torres is a more respected man in the story "Just Lather That's all" than the barber because Torres is a Captain and his duty is to protect the people by trying to capture the rebels. On the Other hand, the barber is a person with a secret identity. He is known as the town's barber but his secret identity is a rebel that informs the revolutionists of what Torres is doing in the town..
